Easy to integrate

Mirka AIROS can be fitted to most robot arms on the market. Compact and lightweight, this electric sanding head is specifically designed for robot sanding and built for continuous use. Weighing in at just 1.1 kg (smallest size of backing pad) it can be fitted to low payload robot arms. It comes with a standardized ISO 9409-1-80-6-M8  flange that can also be customized with an adapter. Installation couldn’t be easier; the sanding head has both a quick cable connector and quick fit vacuum hose connector. Development is ongoing to certify Mirka AIROS for UR robots.

Consistent quality

Automated sanding is not only more efficient, but it’s also smarter. At least with Mirka AIROS. Built-in intelligence allows two-way communication between the sanding head and the control system. Getting detailed information about the status of the sander and the possibility to adjust, places you in full control of the sanding process. You get exact rpm management thanks to the brushless motor and the motor controller with Mirka proprietary technology. The rpm stays constant, even under heavy load, for consistent quality at all times.

The new Mirka AIROS smart electric sanding head is suitable for robotic sanding of all surfaces. It’s easy to program and you get consistent quality in your TIER1, vehicle, composite or wood surface sanding process. The Mirka AIROS is best paired with quality Mirka abrasives for optimal sanding results.

Made to last

As an IP66 classified  48V electric sander, Mirka AIROS is suitable for all sanding applications, including wet sanding and it’s also safe to use on hazardous materials. The compact design and brushless motor combined with a robust aluminium housing ensure a long lifetime and safer operations. Built for industrial use, Mirka AIROS requires very little maintenance and has been rigorously tested. It can last up to 18 months in industrial operations without maintenance.*

*Test completed at Volkswagen in Wolfsburg. The sanding head selected for test was in full production use for 18 months and no preventative maintenance was done during this time. The sanding head stayed fully functional and had no downtime at all.

Mirka ecosystem

Mirka AIROS is part of the Mirka ecosystem, making it the most dependable solution in the market. An automated sanding solution from Mirka consists of sanding heads, controller unit, abrasives and disc changing unit. The sanding head is separate from the controller unit, so parts are easy to replace, thus reducing downtime and costs. 

Mirka manufactures best-in-class multihole paper and film discs as well as the forerunner in dust-free sanding, Abranet® net sanding discs. Since we take workers’ health seriously, we aim to minimise dust exposure also in automated environments.  Our disc changing unit is developed by us to make the most use of the abrasives.
