Mirka Ultimax® Black: High Technology Belt Sanding
30 September 2024
Introducing a new premium long-life sanding belt: the revolutionary new Mirka Ultimax® Black brings new technologies to sanding hard materials and hard wood surfaces.
Using Mirka’s patented manufacturing technology, the antistatic Ultimax Black takes belt sanding to the next level in longevity and sanding performance. It combines a new selective coating with a new silicon carbide grain on a strong backing paper to deliver consistent performance, high removal rate and long life.
The surface cavities of the Mirka Ultimax Black are designed to prevent clogging. With a consistently cleaner sanding belt, every single sanding grain can give its best throughout the life of the abrasive. The precisely applied selective coating also results in higher pressure per sanding grain, giving an aggressive performance and an improved stock removal rate, together with a lower scratch pattern and great surface quality.
With the new silicon carbide grain, sturdy backing paper and strong A-joints, Ultimax Black gives a better finishing quality even in the coarser grits. In the finer grits, Ultimax Black also benefits from a new melted stearate coating, which makes the sanding process even more stable. Thanks to the thick, high quality backing paper, Ultimax Black is highly resistant to breakage, folding and twisting, delivering exceptional sanding quality for longer with reduced material waste. The consistent performance of the Ultimax Black lasts from start to finish, with no need to adjust machine pressure over time.
Another benefit of Mirka’s selective coating and its surface cavities is reducing the temperature of the sanding process. A cooler surface works to combat clogging and burn marks during sanding.
The Mirka Ultimax Black is available in wide and narrow belt form, in coarse grits ranging from 80 to 220 and in fine grits from 240 to 1000. It is suitable for sanding, intermediate sanding and pre-polish sanding of materials ranging from hard wood to soft wood, MDF, HDF and melamine surfaces.
