Fire up the Quattro
After starting his apprenticeship in the body repair industry at the tender age of 17, Ishaq (Ish) Chaudery founded his own company Quattro Coachworks at just 21-years-old.
Specialising in all makes and models, from small factory hatchbacks to prestige brands such as Audi, Land Rover, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Bentley, and Ferrari, this BSI-accredited creative team of painting and bodywork experts pride themselves on going above and beyond what most typical bodyshops can offer.
In addition, Ish has committed to putting health & safety at the forefront of his business. He explains, “Having worked in the industry for 20 years, I’ve got tennis and golfers’ elbows because of the vibrations caused by the tools we have used on the job. Five years ago, I started rehab on my elbows because, unlike some people, I didn’t want to go through the pain of operations.”
He adds, “At the same time, I looked around the market to see what other products are out there because I care about the wellbeing of our technicians and came across the Mirka brand. We switched our sanders to the Mirka® DEROS and haven’t looked back. There is no vibration, and the Mirka dust extractors work so well that even though we do wear masks in the bodyshop we don’t really need to as it is virtually dust-free. We also wear Mirka® Cut-D safety gloves, which are designed for excellent comfort and dexterity, and offer a high level of protection against cuts, punctures and tears, and we have opted for the Mirka® Safety Glasses as well.
“We also switched to Mirka abrasives including the Mirka Galaxy and Autonet products, as the discs last longer than others on the market. So we get the best value for our money, and they help us to work more efficiently.”
To make clients’ vehicles stand out from the crowd and attract attention out on the road once they have been in the bodyshop, Quattro Coachworks sends the projects they are working on to specialist fabricators to perform certain tasks, which frees up the space to start work on other projects. So, there is no waiting around in the workshop and cars are returned to customers with the minimum of delay.
The aesthetic element of the work is also very important to Ish and the team right down to the tools and products they use on the shop floor. “We have a Mirka® Cordless Polisher which delivers a high class finish to the vehicle and we bought two new modular trolleys from Mirka because they look amazing, and the image of the workshop is as important as the work we do and the health & safety of the team. The trolleys are ergonomically sound, and we are often asked what they are because they are so different from anything else out there. It’s critical to project the right aesthetic to our clients as it communicates to them that we will spend as much time caring for their vehicles and making them look top notch, as we do on ensuring our facilities are of premium quality. Brands such as Mirka enable us to achieve this because of their focus on the design aesthetic too.”
