Versatility is the key for new polishing compounds
Mirka is introducing a new range of waterborne, silicone-free marine polishing compounds to its portfolio of products, designed to increase the efficiency of the polishing job by providing a higher cutting rate, a lasting gloss finish and an effective and permanent removal of scratches.
Polarshine® Marine is suitable for use in marine manufacturing and restoration processes. It features three different cut compounds: the first is the heavy cut, which can be used on gel coat and hard surface restoration as well as for restoring damaged and oxidized surfaces, removing sanding scratches and impurities. The second product is the medium cut compound that has been developed for topcoat and clearcoat surfaces and can easily handle heavy oxidation and deep scratches, which are commonplace on boats that are in the water for long periods of time. The third product is the fine compound, suitable for polishing marine gel coat, topcoat and clear coat surfaces and developed to remove holograms and swirl marks.
The hard and medium cut compounds can be used as a one-step application on light-coloured surfaces. They can also be used in conjunction with the fine compound to deliver a deep and long-lasting gloss minus any swirl marks or holograms that might have been left during the process.
These compounds are also environmentally friendly because they are water-based, so there are fewer organic solvents, and are silicone-free.
Andy Mierau, business development manager – transport and industry, Mirka UK, says, “To keep ahead of the constantly evolving marine sector, we are updating our product portfolio with the new Polarshine® Marine polishing compounds to make the toughest jobs easy. The end result will be a surface that looks the same as it did when the boat came off the production line.”
