Deburring, grinding, linishing, and other robotic uses
Deburring is a method used for removing sharp burrs, i.e. thin ridges, edges, or rough areas that are typically produced when processing metal.
Deburring is often performed manually, even though it’s a work that usually requires high consistency and has a low tolerance for human error. The advantages of automating deburring processes include faster workflow and more accurate results.
Mirka offers complete solutions for robotic deburring. Read more about automated gear deburring with our robotic cells here.
Robotic grinding enhances surface quality, consistency, and production efficiency. In contrast, manual grinding is a demanding and hazardous task with poor ergonomics.
In our automation inventory, you will find spindle motors and tools for diverse robotic grinding processes.
Linishing is the process of refining a surface to achieve a smooth finish, often as a preparatory step for coating or painting. It's a process typically performed by robots equipped with belt grinders and large belt grinders.
Mirka has developed grinding tools for large blade finishing, which is a common application for robotic linishing. These tools enable precise and even surface finishing, achieving surface roughness as low as 0.4 µm.
Turbine blade finishing: Mirka offers solutions for jet turbine engine manufacturers. Typical components include: fan blades, vanes and blisks. Mirka's system can be enhanced with optional automatic edge break measurement technology for increased process adaptability.
Finishing of engine casings and structures: Our turnkey automation solutions are developed to process demanding high-quality surface finishes, even when the position and surface contours of the workpiece are unknown.
This makes our robotic cells perfect for processing jet engine parts like compressor casings, combustion cases and fan discs.
Gear chamfering and deburring: Mirka provides optimised solutions for edge-breaking on gear wheels and axes, ensuring excellent finishes and improved productivity.
Our robotic platforms are designed to enhance manufacturing processes by improving quality, consistency, and efficiency across various applications.
