What is the Mirka AIROS

The AIROS is an automatic, integrated, random orbital sander engineered for manufacturing – the first smart electric sander for industrial robots. It is suitable for automated robotic sanding with minimal maintenance needed.

The AIROS is used in automotive and transport manufacturing, sanding metal bodies, composite, plastics and wood as well.

Which factories have used the AIROS?
The Mirka AIROS has been piloted at the Volkswagen Wolfsburg manufacturing plant.

What does a smart electric sander stand for?
The AIROS has two-way electrics that produce monitorable live data. It measures motor RPM to keep it constant as specified – in addition to that, it observes the motor current and temperature, tool usage time and usage count. Load and force sensors are external to the AIROS, depending of the robot used.
