A robot arm won’t get tired, but how do you ensure that the end result is as good as if it were sanded by a human professional?

Mirka® AIROS is the first smart electric sander for industrial robots. Designed by dedicated surface finishing professionals, this automated industrial random orbital sander is easy to integrate and suits the requirements of different manufacturing industries. We also provide robotic polishing solutions for an excellent finish.

In addition to the Mirka AIROS, the Mirka Automation range includes the Mirka AIOS orbital sanding heads and the Mirka AIROP random orbital polishers.

Easy to Integrate

Mirka robotic sanding heads can be fitted to most robot arms on the market. Compact and lightweight, they are specifically designed for robot sanding and built for continuous use, suitable to mounting on low payload robot arms. A Mirka robotic sander comes with a standardized ISO 9409-1-80-6-M8 flange that can also be customized with an adapter. Installation couldn’t be easier; the sanding head has both a quick cable connector and quick fit vacuum hose connector.

Mirka robotic sanding heads can be adapted to work with Universal Robots collaborative solutions using a special UR installation kit.

Consistent Quality

Automated sanding is not only more efficient, it's also smarter. Built-in intelligence allows two-way communication between the sanding head and the control system. Getting detailed information about the status of the sander and the possibility to adjust places you in full control of the sanding process.

With Mirka proprietary technology, you get exact rpm management thanks to the brushless motor and the motor controller. The rpm stays constant, even under heavy load, for consistent quality at all times.

The rectangular sander is specially engineered for woodwork, providing robotic precision for increased productivity and quality - dust free. The Mirka AIOS 353CV is one of the newest additions to the Mirka automation product range.

New modular system for automatic abrasive replacement

Mirka® AutoChanger

In industrial and robotic applications, flawless sanding results are an integral part of the process. This means changing abrasives must be a smooth procedure with no margin for error. Mirka has developed a special AutoChanger system for instant replacement of Mirka abrasive discs in a robotized sanding process, to work together with Mirka AIROS 650CV and AIROS 350CV sanding heads.

Suitable for dry sanding with both net and multihole abrasives, a correctly set up Mirka Autochanger system provides an industrial sanding process with perfect sanding results, time after time.

The new Mirka smart electric sanding heads are suitable for robotic sanding of all surfaces. They are easy to program and you get consistent quality in your TIER1, vehicle, composite or wood surface sanding process. As an IP66 classified 48V electric sander, Mirka AIROS is suitable for all sanding applications, including wet sanding and it’s also safe to use on hazardous materials. The compact design and brushless motor combined with a robust aluminium housing ensure a long lifetime and safer operations. Built for industrial use, Mirka AIROS requires very little maintenance and has been rigorously tested. It can last up to 18 months in industrial operations without maintenance.*

Mirka® Automation + Universal Robots collaborative solutions

Universal Robots Kit

To get you up to speed faster we provide a UR installation kit, which includes the Mirka tool and its motor drive cabinet, cabling and the required UR adaptor flange. A Mirka abrasive sample kit is also included. The Universal Robots kit is available for all the Mirka Robotic Sanding heads: the AIROS, AIOS and AIROP models.
